
“Pro Carpathia” Association for Development and Promotion of the Subropathian voivodeship was able to initiate the implementation of a project “Green Subcarpthia” in January 2008 (motion no. 0060/S/1/2007), thanks to support of Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway and financed within Financial Mechanisms of the European Economic Area, Norwegian Financial Mechanism. Funds were also obtained from the national budget; specifically from - Non-Governmental Organizations Fund Component II – Environmental Protection and balanced development.
The aim of that project is popularization and familiarization with the role and significance of protected areas (Landscape Parks, Nature Reserves, Protected Landscape Areas, and particularly late country manor gardens and parks). The project aims also at encouragement and stimulation of the local communities to activities concerning nature and cultural resources protection, and their later application into balanced community development.
Project objectives:
- Resources cataloguing (resources occurrence map – Natural Heritage Book)
- Trainings and seminars aiming at local leaders, groups interested in protection and popularization of local natural advantages (devoted to legal aspect of permissible to undertake actions, sources of financing as well as preparation of nature focused educational Programmes)
- Website – Green Subcarpathia, devoted to protected areas
- Developing a model nature trail
Moreover, the realization of the project assumes also publication releases and educational films devoted to the issues specifically concerning protected areas.
The project will be implemented on the total area of Sucarpathian Voivodeship and will last for 20 months.
